ADA 30: Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)

This summer marks a very huge milestone for the disability community. On July 26, 1990 it will have been 30 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. This very essential and important civil rights law “prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public.” The main purpose of the ADA is to ensure that people with disabilities are given the same opportunities and rights as nondisabled people.

To mark the 30th Anniversary of the ADA, share your #ThanksToTheADA moments on all of your favorite social media platforms using the above hashtag. It is the hope that folks will continue to post about the last 30 years throughout the duration of the year.
