When people purchase this product, I advise they do so carefully. I recommend my clients go to the Nuance site to always get the most current version and price point options. Then do web searches for the product they desire to purchase. There are several websites and physical stores that have sold older versions or specialized versions for greatly reduced prices, and the person purchasing was intending to get the newest one. Most of their PC versions in the past have had very similar boxing and descriptions. They offered the student, home, preferred, professional, etc. versions for various rates- all for different price points. When I contacted the Nuance sales rep to find a comparison grid to make it easier for clients to identify there was no such item at the time. Basically, what I was told is the difference comes into play when trying to use it with other third party software or websites, etc. Thus, I encourage people purchasing it to identify what device and operating system they will use it with, what third party programs, what web browsers and sites (if needed for work), and if there are specific work servers and programs. Ex. Some hospitals and medical organizations require specific database programs that can only be utilized via their secure server (the program is not installed on the computer.. it is installed on the server). This is such a great program for both PC and Mac; however, one needs to make certain it is a viable option for their work setting tasks.
