Your self-directed employment assistant
Before you get to the point of performing, presenting, or staging something, you’ll want to rehearse beforehand. The same applies to an interview with a potential employer. If you read on below, there are several ways that you can get yourself prepared for the real deal!
The old saying “practice makes perfect” comes from a place of truth. The more that you work at something the greater chance of success that you’ll have. When it comes to your interview, there are a lot of ways that you can prepare. First off, you must be familiar with the interview process so you know what to expect. Every process plays by different rules, but there are resources out there you can reference for different formats. One way you can practice is by recruiting family and friends to work through the interview with you. If that’s not ideal, you can write key points on flashcards and work through them on your own. If you want to take it a step further, you can record a video of yourself answering mock interview questions and assess your performance. You’ll be able to take note of your body language, delivery, tone, and confidence, all parts of a real interview that could either help you or hinder you. Another way that you can master your interview is by wearing your interview attire and setting up a space to get you into the mindset of the scene. These might seem like a lot, but they’ll all be a helpful step in your journey of becoming gainfully employed!
