The Importance of Soft Skills for Future Employment

The World Economic Forum, established in 1971, is an international thought leader in economic analysis and engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

In their recent report, Eight Futures of Work: Scenarios and their Implications they present various possible visions of what the future of work might look like by the year 2030. Based on how different combinations of three core variables—the rate of technological change and its impact on business models; the evolution of learning among the current and future workforce; and the magnitude of talent mobility across geographies—are likely to influence the nature of work in the future.

In that report they identified jobs that will be required in all career areas in the future.

  • Communicators and leaders

All of these 2020 jobs require a high level of soft skills. The Punch-In employment course has several modules devoted to developing the required soft skills of the future.
